I kind of found the Totoro recording. but I’m not sure if its correct. anyway, the beginning got cut off i think, so its kind of hard to find where you are. but anyway, just look out for the part where everyone plays the quavers(6 bars after A, you will realise they are at A cause the speed changes). The recording is not the best, but just listen to it to get the feel of the songs first.

anyway, for those that bring home the instrument and might not even play it at all, at least must take it out like once a week or something and make sure the trigger and valves are still working.like just press the trigger or something:D take good care of the instrument okay?

for monday elearning right, i checked the timetables uploaded on mlg. most of us should be able to make it. is it okay if we have start sectionals at 1230?

alex: if im not wrong, your lesson is from 0800-0900 than you get a long break and start again at 1400-1500. bring your tpc to school for lit elearning okay? and also your piano books to practice. be in school by 1230!

jac:lesson end at 1130 right?after that there is no lesson right? reach school by 1230

jiahui: your lesson ends at 1030 right? reach school by 1230 also

cherry: lessons at 1100-1200 than 1230-1330. come after your lessons end can? be in school by 1430.

kimberly:lessons from 1130-1230. come after lesson. be in school by 1330.

everyone should be in school by 1430?cherry and kimberly tell me if the time is enough kay? cause im not sure how long you take to come from home.

i asked you guys to come earlier so that you can go home earlier and not practice so hard. some of us will be having lessons some time during sectionals (alex,jia yi and me) so if we disappear,sorry. anyway, here’s the plan for monday:

1230-1300 set up, warm up

1300-1330 take Big Fun (and We are the World if there is time)

1330-1430 self prac.Practice Stand By Me if we have the score, if not, work on weaker pieces- Nobody and American Graffiti

1430-1515 take Nobody, American Graffiti (and jupiter pop if there is time)

1515-1520 break

1520-1630 run through of ALL the pieces.

1630-1700 run through weaker pieces again

1700- sec1s and 2s who came at 1230 can leave.

1700-1730 cherry and kim stay a little to work on weaker pieces.

Sec1s: please rmb to do your lines and pass it to JIA YI @ 3c2 IN THE MORNING, during morning assembly also can. if you hand in late, add extra lines. 20 lines if you hand in during band etc. late one day, add 50 lines. so if you hand in on tues, it will increase to 100 lines.

if you dont want to write anymore lines, please stop making mistakes that are avoidable. write down if you need to, the sharps or flats and also the position. please study the position chart. its AUGUST and you can still tell me Ab is 2nd position-.-

anyway, here’s what we are going to do during sectionals on monday assuming that you guys will be ready to start by 3pm

3pm-330pm: warm-ups. Alex take total training, Jac take iRecommend. For iRecommend, take the Bb major scales 1-3 and the interval studies, staccato etude etc.RMB TO TUNE EVERY NOTE!

330pm-400pm: self prac. We are the World. take note of tuning and remember to count!

400pm-430pm: take We are the World as a section

430pm-500pm: self prac Stand By Me. hopefully, i can find the score of the other parts.

500pm-530pm: take Stand By Me as a section

if there happen to be any “delay” or whatever, we just push back the timings.

3rd: Jia yi, Cherry, Kim

i only have the scores for 1st now. 2nd and 3rd the librarians are still looking for it. the parts division will be like that for FUTURE pieces, unless i change it. cause i realise its not easy to rmb so many different part and that if we keep moving its very distracting

like i said before take sectionals and combines seriously.jot down things that mrs chua say. i have been looking at the scores and all i see are position markings. what about for places where mrs chua say notes must be short etc? you guys can rmb? is your memory that good? i want to see you guys writing it unless you can guarantee you rmb it.

also, from now on there will be punishments during sectionals. i want you guys to know that sectionals is not a time where you can slack. when im talking, respond. half the time i dont even know whether you heard me or understand me. i want a respond. be it jia yi  or me or some other senior. respond. its irritating when you dont. nod head means what? not everyone can read your mind. back to the point, punishment. stop repeating the SAME mistakes again and again. when i take you guys or anytime during sectionals, and you make the same mistake for the 3rd time in one practices. i want you to copy lines. 50 lines. so if you repeat the SAME mistake for the 3rd time, its 50 lines. 4th time its 100 lines.5th time its 150 and i want it by the next day. if you dont want to write lines, be serious about it. dont keep nodding your head and yet you dont do what is told. i mean what i say, so if you dont believe try making the same mistake again and again.

i reminded you all so many times.BRING YOUR TUNER.MAKE SURE YOUR TUNER IS WITH YOU.Its not funny.bring your tuner. will it kill you to do it? the last sectionals, i say take note of tuning, tuning is horrible, did any of you bothered to take out your tuner and tune your notes and look at the tuner when you playing? no.you guys didnt, until i told you all to do so. need reminder is it? can you all have INITIATIVE to do things without the seniors having to tell you word for word? set up stand, tune, write down need reminders is it? the seniors are not your personal assistant to tell you everything. HAVE INITIATIVE. Is there a need for me to tell you to change place when we change a piece and you play a different part? no right? isnt it common sense. im sorry if you are still not sure about it cause my instruction wasnt clear. but if not sure, your mouth is there for you to ask. OPEN IT AND ASK. i type in the previous post where we are sitting and so on right, if you still dont understand, ask. ASK.

set a goal for yourself every week or maybe monthly and make sure you reach it. dont make me force you all to write reflection again.

you guys have been in band long enough for you to know how it runs right? sec1, its august.ignorance is not an excuse anymore. sec2, its over a year and you are more experience, guide the sec1s along.

oh anyway, good job on friday. sec1, its the first time. get use to it:D yup, lets work hard together.

hi people!

i gave out the Nobody score today and the photocopying card. so hopefully you guys photocopy it ALREADY. pass me the originals on thurs!

Here are the division of parts in case some blur people still dont know:

1st: Fion, Jia hui
2nd: Jia yi, Kimberly
3rd: Alex, Jac and Cherry.

yup, anyway, from now on during combine warm up, we are going to sit in this order:

Me, Jia hui, Jia yi, Kim, Jac, Cherry, Alex

this is to make sure sec 1 sit between the seniors. after warm ups, we can move to position we sit for the pieces. just in case the juniors are not sure, its usually the 1st, 2nd than 3rd. so 3rd is right at the end. Seniors, please make sure the juniors are between you. or if you are playing with 2 juniors, you are between them.

For example Big fun:

the seating arrangement will be like Jia yi, Cherry, Alex, Fion, kim,Jac, Jia hui
im next to alex cause im playing a different part.

For seniors that are playing the same part as two juniors, you will be at the centre! like the 3rd part of american graffiti it will be Kim, Jia yi, Cherry

just make sure that the juniors can hear you okay?:D

for scores, please share! one score for 2 person okay? max 3 person! so please photocopy more or find it in the section cupboard if there is not enough copies!make notes on the score whenever the conductor or senior say something impt!

OMG WHICH REMINDS ME! SEC 1s! i dont want to see so many slide position written on your score! you are expected to know your basic position by now already! its july, at lesat the Bb major scale. i dont want to see the pencil markings of slide position! go memorize the positions. i am going to test you during the next sectionals!

please take every combines and sectionals seriously. DONT SLACK during sectionals! (hint hint). during combines, please dont talk to much! and seat properly! half butt only! and sit up STRAIGHT! dont slouch.

please do your warm ups properly, especially during sectionals when you have more time.work on your long notes and use iRecommend. despite the fact that i repeat so many times,WARM UP PROPERLY, i doubt any of you actually did, so please listen for once. warm ups are important. especially the juniors! it can help you build your foundation! im sure you all want to play for syf next year. just so you know, there should be an audition! please remember to use your tuner. what is the point of having it when you dont use?! TUNE YOUR NOTES PROPERLY. some of you anyhow tune. please tune properly.take it seriously!

alex, im sorry. use back your bass trombone can?i try to arrange for you to play the lower parts kay?:D

jiahui: use the other tenor instrument! i thought i pointed it out to you on sat and you kept nodding your head?! how can you still ask what instrument you are suppose to use?!

GREAT JOB FOR SIBF AND NBC

YEAH:D i so proud of you guys. thanks for working so hard and for tolerating my neverending pmsing mood:Dthanks for everything, and most importantly for joining trombone section:D im sorry for being so irritable during this period of time:(

im sorry for screwing up part of the piece. i sort of panic:( sorry. but still, our hard work paid off. its a GOLD

despite the fact that some people may say that we dont really deserve our GOLD for sibf, but i really think we played really well.i see the effort you put in even if others dont. and i thank you for it:D dont be discourage just because we were said for being one of the weakess and less discipline band just right after sibf, because we can always continue to work hard, to do even better the next time. remember, the best is yet to be:)

lets work harder for syf next year.

WELL DONE TODAY! good job. i think we didn’t do that badly today. Gold! at least all the hard work and extra practice we put in for NBC is not wasted.at least we improved:D

though it wasnt as good as it could have been, i believe and know that we can do much much better than today.  NBC is over, we must work harder to do better for SIBF yeah? about 12 more days to go…

work hard and we can do better. “the best is yet to be” remember?

june hols are ending! i hope you guys actually learn something from the practices during the holidays.yup, we would like you to write/type a reflection. as you know, quite alot of things happen during the past few band pracs. alot of scolding,nagging etc. so its time to  reflect.yup, so here are the questions.

• what went right?
• what went wrong?
• how do you think you can improve?
• what are aims you have for july

obviously, you can add in other stuff. like suggestions for sectionals etc. a minimum of 350 words is required, or if you dont want to type and wants to write, at least 3/4 page.please put it in paragraphs and dont use short forms! its hard to read!

please pass it to me on MONDAY(28/6) during band if you decided to write it out, or email it to me in word doc by SUNDAY (27/6). please be on time!
